Hamisah completed her Secondary Education at St Margaret’s Convent, Bukit Mertajam and High School Bukit Mertajam respectively. She later went to Universiti Kebangsaan Bangi to complete her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Communication with a focus in Advertising. She left for Tucson, Arizona, USA and read Family Studies at the University of Arizona. When she returned to Malaysia, she registered for the Masters Science (Corporate Communication) at the Department of Communication, UPM. Hamisah obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Communication from the Media and Communication School, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
Prior to joining the Department of Communication, UPM, Hamisah worked as a Researcher/ Script Writer at a Broadcasting house, PrimeTime Communication Sdn Bhd. After spending six wonderful years writing scripts for programs produced for TV3, she joined the Department of Communication, UPM where she has been teaching these past 10 years. Besides teaching advertising courses both for the bachelor and Master’s program, she also teaches courses related to Communication Theories.
Hamisah has been actively participating in giving lectures on public speaking both at the university’s level especially for the PTK courses and also at local public and private organizations.
